Course architect, William P. (Billy) Bell, famous for his strategic use of existing terrain, has designed a dramatic round of (18) championship holes. Bakersfield Country Club is both pleasurable and stimulating to devoted golfers and challenging to all levels of expertise. In addition, for those looking for a place to hone their putting skills or just somewhere to relax and enjoy the ambience of the area, an (18) hole putting course, superbly designed, has been incorporated into the natural contours of the existing terrain.

The Director of Golf and his staff run a full service Pro Shop providing merchandise, club repair, and golf lessons. Working together with the Greens Superintendent, they provide the members with a golf course that is both challenging and aesthetically pleasing.

Attention to detail is evident throughout the clubhouse. Special attention has been given to the needs of the sportsman. Both the men's and ladies' locker rooms include mahogany finished lockers, privacy showers, attendant areas, and well lighted grooming areas. Close to both locker rooms is a complete exercise facility available to both men and women. The men's locker room includes a steam room and sauna. Both locker rooms incorporate separate card rooms and lounge areas that offer sweeping views of the links and provide leisurely surroundings where members can relax with a beverage or just share in the companionship with fellow members and guests.

Dining at the clubhouse provides a variety of distinguished atmospheres. The Grill Room and Lounge have a commanding view of the golf course including a dramatic view of the Tehachapi Mountains. The formal dining room looks out over the San Joaquin Valley. This vista becomes spectacular as the sun sets and gives way to the glow of the city at night. Should one choose to dine outdoors, both the Grill Room and Dining Room have adjacent patios that heighten the scenic views offered by the clubhouse.

In addition to golf, Bakersfield Country Club offers tennis on four lighted courts complete with a viewing deck and full service pro shop. The Tennis Professional provides a full range of tennis equipment, racket repair, and lessons. The Club has a busy junior tennis program and member leagues keeping tennis players active both on their home courts and throughout the community with interclub play.
